Edward Gerard Fike grew up in Parma, Ohio. He earned a B.A. in English from John Carroll University (1988) and a J.D. from Santa Clara University (1990). Following California Bar admission, he joined Hobee's California Restaurants as general counsel, later becoming president from 2005-2017 before the company was sold.

The Silicon Valley Business Journal twice recognized him among influential business leaders. He also held four consecutive terms as president of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the California Restaurant Association.

As of 2019, Fike practices employment law part-time at Hixson & Nagatani LLP in San Jose, concentrating on employer compliance training and litigation support.

An accomplished distance runner with 54 completed marathons, he represented Palo Alto at the 2019 Kasumigaura Marathon in Tsuchiura, Japan—an experience that motivated deeper involvement with Neighbors Abroad.

He resides in Los Altos Hills with his husband, Bill Jeffrey.
