Bruce McLeod

Bruce McLeod is a transplanted Midwesterner whose family relocated to northwest Washington to be closer to Canadian relatives in Vancouver, BC. He holds a B.A. in Speech and Theatre from Western Washington University and began his professional theater career at Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

His career spans multiple roles within Bay Area theater institutions including the Magic Theatre, Center Rep, and TheatreWorks Silicon Valley. He earned recognition from the Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle for scenic designs, particularly for musicals Rags and Sunday in the Park with George. McLeod was a founding partner of Living Design, a residential design firm operating for 25 years on the Peninsula and in Northwest Washington.

In 2006, he joined Foothill College's Theatre Arts faculty as Director of Theatre Technology, supervising award-winning productions and managing the Lohman Theatre. During his tenure, he completed an M.B.A. from Marylhurst University via sabbatical. He currently teaches part-time as emeritus faculty and continues directing plays.

Beyond theater, McLeod is an accomplished soccer enthusiast—player, coach, and youth program leader with the State Olympic Development Program. He and his wife Carla Befera have traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and beyond. They have two adult children who are Palo Alto school graduates now residing in Seattle and New York.
