Evelyn Aguilar Shimazaki

Evelyn's involvement with Neighbors Abroad began in October 2022 when she participated in a delegation to Palo, Leyte, Philippines. As VP overseeing the Sister City relationship with Tsuchiura, Japan, she manages the middle school student exchange program between Palo Alto and Tsuchiura.

Born in Manila and raised in Los Angeles, Evelyn earned her B.A. from UC Berkeley and J.D. from UCLA School of Law. She practiced law in Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Silicon Valley for over three decades.

During seven years in Tokyo, she studied Japanese and worked in the legal department of a Japanese electronics manufacturer. She and her husband Naoki raised two children there while participating in the international school community.

After relocating to Palo Alto, her children attended Walter Hays Elementary and Jordan Middle School. She has worked for several Silicon Valley technology companies including Apple, Tesla, and Facebook as an in-house attorney specializing in commercial law and technology transactions. Evelyn is a Founding Board Member of UCLA Law Women LEAD and an Advisory Board Member of UCLA Law's Lowell Miliken Institute for Business Law and Policy. She is fluent in Tagalog, Spanish, and Japanese.
