Flor originates from Oaxaca, Mexico, holding a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.S. in Tourism from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. She previously resided in New Jersey, Mexico, and Costa Rica before relocating to the Bay Area in 2021.

Her professional background includes extensive work in health prevention and chronic disease management programs. She has taught Spanish to kindergarteners and provided ESL tutoring to elementary and middle school students.

Together with her husband Ken Sanchez (also a board member), Flor oversees Neighbors Abroad's partnership with Vidas y Sueños, a nonprofit in Oaxaca serving vulnerable communities through wellness, health, and nutrition initiatives. Recently, they expanded into sustainability work, most notably implementing a life-changing rainwater capture program in the indigenous village of Yaxe, benefiting 50 families. This project earned a 2022 Innovation in Humanitarian Assistance Award from Sister Cities International.
