Sophie Vong-Karlage is a nonprofit professional dedicated to building a more compassionate and connected world. She is multilingual, speaking English, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Hakka, with formative years spent in China and Japan, plus prior work as a professional translator.

Currently, she pursues a Master's degree in Philanthropic Studies at Indiana University's Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and holds a Certificate in Fund Raising Management. Beyond her role at Neighbors Abroad, she serves on the boards of Silicon Valley Pet Project and as a partner at Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund. She lives with her husband Sean and two pets adopted from SVPP.
