2023 Albi Delegation to Palo Alto
The organization welcomed a delegation from Albi, France in September 2023. The three-member delegation spent five days meeting with local business leaders, Stanford University energy experts, Palo Alto elected officials, museum directors, and city staff. The visit aimed at expanding existing programs and planning collaborations for the 30th anniversary in 2024.
The delegation included Julie-Anne Petrilli (Albi’s Hydrogen and New Mobilities Manager), Serge Labordere (Chief of Staff for the Mayor of Albi), and Jean-Luc Dargein-Vidal (City Counselor for International Affairs).
Key meetings included sessions with Palo Alto’s Vice Mayor Greer Stone and Mayor Lydia Kou. Frederic Jung, French Consul General in San Francisco, participated in discussions at City Hall. The group toured Stanford University, the Cantor Arts Center, and JLS Middle School.
The delegation visited Carmel Mission, which features a plaque honoring Jean Francois de Galaup, Comte de Laperouse, an Albi native son. Activities included dinners at local restaurants, discussions about sustainability initiatives, and meetings about hydrogen energy — an area where Albi leads in Europe.
The visit concluded with an evening at the home of Carol and Noel Stevens, early pioneers of the sister city relationship in the early 1990s.
